Karen McLean

Hello! I am the owner of Tsylos Park Lodge and Adventures. I am the youngest daughter of Bud and Corinne McLean, and the one who decided to purchase the business when my parents retired.

I have always loved Chilko Lake, but fell in love the first time I traveled through the mountains on horseback—seeing the mountains jagged in the background and an entire view of hidden valleys that were calling my name. The sense of vastness, exploration, adventure, and sheer stunning beauty captivated me and has guided me ever since.

There have been many moments in my life like that one on top of the mountain.  Each time it happens, it gives me a sense clarity—what’s important, what’s not.  As Owner/Operator of Tsylos Park Lodge & Adventures, here are a few items of key importance to me.

Chilko Lake and Area

Chilko Lake has always taken care of us. It has provided us a world of exceptional beauty, our livelihood, and food for ours souls.  I take my role as a steward of the land very seriously.

Our Lodge and Our Footprint

Having a wilderness lodge in such a spectacular area comes with responsibility. How we conduct ourselves plays a large role in the welfare of our fellow wilderness companions—from our fat and happy trout to our grizzly bears & cubs—and the beautiful land—from the grasslands that feed our horses to the river and lake where we spend our time.

Our Guests

Our guests travel from around the world to visit us at Tsylos. If you are here to connect with your wife, your kids, or connect with you, myself and my crew will do everything with in our power to ensure that you have a great trip in this spectacular area.

Dual Citizenship

I am Canadian and American. I have always wanted a t-shirt that says "Made in Canada" on one side and "Born in the USA" on the other. I support both countries 100%— although this can be challenging during a hockey game!
