The Chilko River remains one of the premier streams in North
America for trophy wild Rainbow Trout. Chilkos crystal clean waters, deep pools,
long shelves, fast and calm waters, offer a variety of fishing opportunities to you. The
Rainbows are big, healthy, strong and very colourful.
Since the headwaters are 52 mile-long Chilko Lake, acting as a big filter for runoff, the
river never clouds or silts up...it remains crystal clear drinking water and is very
consistent in its levels.
The Chilkos resident fish are Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Dolly Varden, Mountain
Whitefish and the ocean run fish are Steelhead, Sockeye Salmon, Chinook Salmon, and Coho
Salmon. At Tsylos Park Lodge we focus on the Rainbow Trout and Bull Trout. We primarily
catch Rainbows in the river and Bulls on the lake. On a 7 night fly fishing week most
anglers spend 5.5 days on the Chilko River and 1 day on Chilko Lake.
