Bud McLean is thoroughly Canada, born just outside of Abbotsford, B.C. Corinne McLean was born in Wisconsin and moved to Oregon. That is where they met, married, and had five kids (yes, five!): Nancy, Larry, Janey, Michael, and Karen. As Corrine would say, “They created all chiefs and no Indians”, so you can just imagine what the McLean family holidays are like!
In 1956, the McLeans decided to do something different. Bud’s dream was to have a fishing and hunting lodge and in 1957 their dream came true. They packed up and moved to Chilko Lake, B.C. to open the beautiful Tsylos Park Lodge.
Bud is a world-class guide and storyteller! Both he and Corinne are like walking history books on the Chilko Lake area. Bud knows the Chilko area better than anyone though, and loves showing off its natural beauty. He spends many days guiding on Chilko Lake, showing people the area that he loves and telling great stories. He is the reigning champion of the horseshoe pits too, so remember to challenge him when you visit!
Corrine can always be found hiking, kayaking, picking or planting flowers at her log home or at the lodge. Her green thumb is responsible for the beautiful flower arrangements and flower boxes at the lodge. Devoting much of her time to her children and their children, she is a quiet rock in the family. She is also responsible for some of the tasty recipes you will enjoy at the lodge!
Together Bud and Corrine created a great legacy to pass to their children and grandchildren—a love of wilderness places and an amazing vacation destination. All the McLean's have an innate sense of “we can do anything if we are committed and try”, making their passion and commitment for the Tsylos Park Lodge unshakeable. Just listen to any of them talk about Tsylos and you'll know it is truly their heart and soul.
