The west Chilcotin and especially Chilko Lake, are well known for their large population of monster Mule Deer. Horses will assist us as we will take you into the rocky alpine basins to set up our base camp between 4,000 and 7,000 feet. Once at camp we hike or go by horseback to the remote pockets and valleys for the big bucks.
Glassing the side hills and spot and stalk are the ideal methods for harvesting your trophy. In later hunts, during October we hunt from the comforts of the lodge. From here we hike, use horses or 4x4 to gain access to a variety of productive areas.
Mule deer in our area tend to have high and narrower racks with a very heavy base. Mule deer sizes range from 20-30 inch range, averaging in the mid 20’s for a true inside spread. Due to the remote location and the lack of accessibility to our guide area we give you the opportunity to find that special buck that no one has ever seen!
