The Tsylos Experience – A True Bond Between Horse and Rider.

Our horses aren’t just for riding—they’re partners in adventure. Carefully selected for their spirit, willingness, and connection with people, they include Arabs, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Paints, Drafts, and Thoroughbreds. They’re responsive, engaged, and eager to form a bond with their rider. These aren’t just “dude horses” that follow the herd; they listen, move with you, and become part of your journey.

At Tsylos, riding is about more than the saddle—it’s about the relationship. From the moment you catch your horse, brush them, and saddle up, you’re forming a partnership built on trust and care. After the ride, you cool them down, offer a well-earned treat, and share a quiet moment of appreciation. The experience is raw, real, and deeply rewarding. Many riders fall in love with their horse, finding joy in the small gestures—an apple shared, a nuzzle of gratitude, or the simple pleasure of watching them roll in the dirt after a long day.

This is the heart of The Tsylos Experience—riding as it was meant to be, where horse and rider move as one, creating a connection that stays with you long after the ride is over.

Discover the Magic of Tsylos Park Lodge

A Hidden Gem in the Wilderness
Guests who have traveled the world in search of the ultimate horseback riding destination often tell us the same thing—nothing compares to the beauty of Chilko Lake and the Chilko River. Nestled in the heart of British Columbia’s vast wilderness, Tsylos Park Lodge is more breathtaking than even Alaska, a true hidden gem waiting to be explored.

Unspoiled, Untamed, Uncrowded
Tsylos isn’t just remote—it’s intentionally off the beaten path. Surrounded by millions of acres of pristine Canadian wilderness, the journey here is part of the adventure. Unlike other riding destinations, you won’t find crowds or overused trails. In fact, it’s rare to see another rider all week. Our experienced guides know the secret spots, ensuring you feel like you have the entire wilderness to yourself.

Waterfront Luxury in the Wild
Unlike lodges that require a drive to reach the water, we are right on the river. Step out the back door, and you’re on the dock—ready for an early morning coffee with mist rising from the water, a refreshing dip after a day on the trail, or an evening drink as you watch the sunset paint the sky.

Passionate Guides, Unforgettable Rides
Our guides are not just skilled riders—they are horse lovers, wilderness experts, and storytellers who make every ride extraordinary. With a deep connection to this land, they tailor each experience to your desires, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

A Lodge That Feels Like Home
Tsylos is family-owned and operated, and that warmth is felt the moment you arrive. Our guests often say they feel like they’ve found their tribe here, connecting with like-minded adventurers and our friendly staff. Each evening, we gather around the table as one big family, sharing stories over a delicious meal. You may arrive as a stranger, but you’ll leave as part of our family.

An Intimate, Private Retreat
With a maximum of just fourteen guests, Tsylos offers an exclusive, intimate experience. It’s the perfect destination for friends, couples, or families seeking a private, world-class horseback riding adventure. When Orvis awarded us the prestigious “Orvis Endorsed Lodge” recognition, they described Tsylos as “warm and inviting”—a true testament to the special atmosphere we create.

Gourmet Dining in the Wild
Forget camp food—our meals are an experience in themselves. Our private chef prepares gourmet dishes using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether it’s perfectly grilled steaks over an open fire, decadent desserts, or thoughtfully paired wines, every meal is a highlight. We even accommodate special dietary needs—just let us know in advance!

The Luxury of Being Unplugged
Here, you’ll hear something rare—silence. With no cell service, there are no distractions—just you, the mountains, and the rhythm of the horses. Breathe in the fresh air, take in the stunning scenery, and let nature work its magic. We’ve watched CEOs, business owners, and high-powered professionals arrive wound tight, only to fully unwind after a few days off the grid. (For peace of mind, we do have WiFi in the office for emergencies.)

A Wilderness Experience Like No Other
At Tsylos Park Lodge, adventure and serenity go hand in hand. Whether you’re galloping through alpine meadows, fishing in the crystal-clear Chilko River, or simply soaking in the beauty of the wild, this is more than a vacation—it’s a chance to reconnect with nature, with others, and with yourself.

Recommended Horse Riding Clothing & Gear:

We recommend for riding wear, is, whatever is the most comfortable for you too ride in. It’s your vacation. We ride in jeans, boots, shirt, and a Stetson. Many of our guests wear jodhpurs or other riding clothes. The most important item for both safety and comfort is a good riding boot with a heel. Tsylos supplies a pair of saddle bags for you to carry your personal items such as your water bottle, lunch, and camera. Saddle strings are on the back of western saddles where you can tie on your jacket and rain gear. We also highly recommend that you bring your own riding chaps and helmet. Although not required to wear a helmet, we do highly advocate it. The choice is yours. If you are not wearing a helmet, a western cowboy hat is a very useful tool as it is made from heavy felt. It offers protection from sun or rain, and branches.

What type of riding do you do?

At Tsylos Park Lodge, we use the traditional western saddle and riding tack. Each horse is fitted with their own equipment. This is important to ensure that the proper saddle fits the horse. Each horses has its own well-fitting saddle, a soft saddle blanket that goes next to their back, and a thicker saddle pad for extra cushioning. A combination of snaffle and curb bits are used depending on each horse, and occasionally we use bosals. A halter and lead rope are used while riding to ensure that during lunch, the horses can be tied up for their lunch rest.

What is the food like?

If you are a foodie, you will LOVE the food!! It is NOT cafeteria food. It is gourmet prepared by our own private chef. Whether it is the aroma from fresh cut steaks sizzling on the fire, or the incredibly delicious and well-deserved dessert, whatever meal we have, you will love it. We also pair wines with the meals to make it an exceptional experience. We have been told that the place settings with the fresh cut flowers and cloth napkins were exquisite.

And yes, we also cater to special food diets, just let us know when you book your stay!
