Best Canada Fly Fishing Trips and Fly Fishing Lodges
Located at Chilko Lake and surrounded by the Coast Mountains, Tsylos is a premier fly fishing lodge. Guests of Tsylos often tell us they have experienced fly fishing trips all over the world and they all agree the Chilko river is one of the finest dry fly trout fishing rivers in the world, and the Chilko area is the absolute best in terms of both fishing and scenery.
If you are considering a visit, here are common questions people have before their trip:
What type of fish will I encounter at Chilko?
In the Chilko River we are fly fishing for Rainbow Trout, while in Chilko Lake, primarily Bull trout. The Chilko waters are the home and spawning grounds for Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout, Steelhead, and Rocky Mountain Whitefish. During August and September The Chinook and Sockey salmon return to the river to spawn, in November the Coho arrive. In the spring the Chilko Steelhead return to the river as well. The Chilko waters are rich with life. There is a healthy insect population, so don’t forget your bug spray.
Do I need to be an experienced fly fisherman to enjoy myself?
Absolutely not. In fact, our fly fishing lodge is probably one of the best to visit if you’ve never fly fished before. All of our fly fishing trips feature experienced guides to assist you.
Can I take the fish I catch home with me?
Our fly fishing resort is catch and release only, so you won’t be bringing any fish home with you but you will have the memories and a great photograph to show off proudly.
I have a large party – will you be able to accommodate me?
Our fly fishing lodge can accommodate 14 guests, which is usually a mix of horseback riders and fly fishers, but if you have a fly fishing group and would like us to customize a trip just for your group, we are happy to do so – just give us a call to discuss your needs. Rooms sleep two and have private bathrooms. We also have 3 log cabins that sleep 6, 4, and 3.Everyone eats breakfast and dinner together family style, and lunch is taken with you to be enjoyed while out on the Lake or River.
